Updating software on ps3

After more than three weeks of waiting, SCE have released an update for the PS3 which will allow users to change their passwords once PSN is back online.

Sony is an amazing brand, it makes many amazing products and has patents on many aspects of other great products under different brands. I just wish the store was up, or at least access to my previous purchases.Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password. We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when Play Station Network is back online. I mean I don't have--oh, you know, it's MY machine!Yet, I've not received any emails from Sony about the hacking, outage, year's worth of credit protection or any welcome back info.Last thing I got was in March - new Terms Of Use/Service notice.SCE's full release follows: We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once Play Station Network is restored.

The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.

PUP and instructions to upgrade is available here (for US PS3).

Sony has made available a new system software (firmware) updates for Sony Play Station 3 (PS3), which has the version of 3.21, on schedule on April 1, 2010.

If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security.

If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN.

This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password.
